Hello Friends,
Its been a long time since I have written something. The past few months have been hectic in terms of work related commitments and this kept me away from being in touch with you.
December is the best month of the year. Winters are at the peak and the weather becomes pleasant. Its a colourful month with lots of events and parties.
For CA students this is the golden period of the year. Its a month of relaxation after the nightmarish exams. For any CA student, the time period between the completion of exams and the result date turns out to be the best period of his lifetime. This is the only time-span where he can actually enjoy his life. Indeed this is the period of celebration and no one should stop themselves from celebrating.
But for CA final students this is the time where you can actually plan for your future. This is the phase to plan about your life after being CA.
Here are some ways through which you can effectively utilize this golden time.
1) Start Studying
This might sound strange and the most weird thing to do once after your exams are over. But if you have the slightest doubt about passing the exams, then start studying immediately. Do NOT wait for the result. Since results are declared too late, students do not get much time for preparation after the exams. Do not hesitate to start studies from today onwards. This will help you to prepare well for the forthcoming attempt with ample amount of time on your side.
2) Plan your future
I remember the last day of my CA Final Exams. My father asked me "What were my future plans? Whether to do a job or start my own practice?" This was a small yet important question to which I could not find any answer that time. I was not so clear about it even when my results were declared and this was disastrous for me. Even on the day of campus placements I could not decide what I wanted to do and still this dilemma goes on in my mind.
The biggest challenge a fresh CA faces is whether to go for a job or start his own practice. Every year there are thousands of freshers who face this dilemma and there is no specific solution to this. Utilize this time you have got to ponder over the pros and cons of both practice and job. Interact with people from both the sectors and try to know their experiences. Have healthy conversations with people and know the challenges they face in both job and practice. Think over which option do you want to select and then start preparing for the same. I know two months is a less time to decide upon your future but I am sure that you will get an idea what your heart desires.
3) Reading
After reading so much for CA exams, you would have started developing hatred towards reading. But please keep on reading as many new things as you can. Be aware with whats going on in the profession. Do read ICAI journals and keep track of the changes in the various statutes. This will keep you updated and will help you during the time of interviews.
4) Networking
Networking has become a basic necessity of life. People of our generation need not be explained what networking is. I am not talking about social networking only. I know all of us are good at social networking. But the real challenge is to built up a professional network.
By professional networking I mean, meeting such people who can help you out in your future profession. Professional networking is beneficial to all whether you are in job or practice. If you are in practice it helps you to earn clients while if you are in job it will help you to get a better job. Go out and meet as many people as possible. Try to interact with them on various issues and develop a good rapport with them. You never know when this small meeting of yours will become useful. At the same time also be active on social networking sites. There have been few cases where people have got jobs through Facebook and Linkedin. So try to build up a strong professional as well as social network. The stronger your network, the better your professional life will be.
And friends above all, do not forget to enjoy this golden time of yours. Spent quality time with your family, meet your friends, travel to new places, eat out at new places and party hard. Do not let this time go away from you...
Remember these golden days are never going to come back. So enjoy as much as you can.
All the best for your results!!!!!
Till then....Bbye....
